Overview

Black Coffee is an internationally known house music DJ, record producer, singer, and songwriter. Born in South Africa, he began his career in 1994 and has since released five albums as well as a live DVD.

Black Coffee is currently the resident DJ at Hï, the most popular nightclub in Ibiza, and he also tours internationally at major music festivals across the globe including Coachella and Ultra Music Festival.

In September 2015, he won the “Breakthrough DJ of the Year” award at the DJ Awards in Ibiza. Black Coffee has collaborated on tracks with major musical artists including Usher, David Guetta, and Drake.

Black Coffee is one of the most popular musicians in Africa and is recognized as creating his own unique genre of deep house music with tribal, vocal-laced beats.

The Challenge

While Black Coffee is a world famous DJ with an internationally recognized brand name and millions of followers on social media, his team had yet to launch ticket sales for his upcoming tour through online sales channels.

His marketing team was highly experienced in selling tickets through established retail ticket channels but lacked the tools and experience necessary to launch a successful online ticket sales campaign.

They needed help creating and implementing a digital strategy to promote his upcoming tour and sell tickets directly to consumers online.

Therefore, Black Coffee’s team searched for a highly skilled digital agency that could build a custom digital marketing strategy to achieve this goal for them.

As part of the project, the agency would need to create custom geo-targeted landing pages to effectively target potential fans and sell them tickets to the concert nearest to their location.

When reviewing the project, we immediately saw that this was a unique opportunity to launch a highly successful online marketing campaign.

We began by crafting a seamless digital strategy to effectively target, engage, and convert the right customer at the right time.

We created a custom landing page with a custom geo-targeting function to automatically record the city and country when visitors submitted their information. Based on this data, we could then segment users into different geographical groups and send customized emails to purchase tickets to the concert nearest to them.

We combined everything together to create a seamless user experience. Fans were targeted with ads promoting the tour, they entered their details on the website, and were automatically sent an email with a ticket link to the concert nearest to them. Overall, the strategy was highly successful in driving ticket sales to Black Coffee’s tour.
